Josiah Hamilton’s great great-grandfather, Hezekiah Chase, came to Santa Barbara in 1900 and was the
first president of the Board of Realtors. Chase reportedly sold half of Santa Barbara. Another great-grandfather, Harold Chase, developed Hope Ranch, and Hamilton’s great-great aunt, Pearl Chase, was Santa Barbara’s most aggressive and important preservationist; she is often credited with championing the look of the city as it is today. Hamilton’s father, Guy Hamilton, has been an active leader in the Santa Barbara real estate and mortgage business for over 30 years.
Because of this family history, Josiah has the knowledge, compassion, and desire to respect and uphold a legacy he is honored to be related to. He understands the importance of real estate and the influences it has on the community. Josiah grew up splitting his time between Santa Barbara and London. He attended Heatherley’s School of Fine Art in London before moving full time to Santa Barbara. Out of school, he started working at the Wine Cask, and, always the entrepreneur, he saw a niche, starting Hamilton Cellars, selling and buying rare wines to and from some of the finest restaurants and private collections in the United States and Europe. In 2004 he started his career in real estate career, rising quickly to the top. In 2008 he formed The Hamilton Co. with his wife Justine and the rest of their team and has remained in the top 1% of all Berkshire Hathaway agents nationwide.
